The rebar and wire rod mill water-through cooling technology have transformed the original traditional process of the bar and wire mill, abandoning the traditional method of increasing the steel strength by increasing the alloy content of the steel. Adopting the POMINI technology, its advantages are outstanding, production is stable, the automation system is reliable, and the accident rate is basically zero.

The wire rod mill equipment is to rapidly reduce the surface temperature of the rebar to 350℃-400℃after the 1000℃bar is cooled by strong water penetration, while the core temperature of the rebar remains above 800℃, and then the core temperature spreads outward, tempering the surface layer and improving the mechanical properties of the material. After the bar and wire rod mill are cooled by water, the following effects can be achieved:

  • Using the optimized chemical composition 20MnSi billet to produce secondary steel bars, reduce the alloy content, and reduce the cost by 30 yuan/ton.
  • Use Q235 billet to produce secondary steel bars, reducing the cost by 30 yuan/ton.
  • Use 20MnSi billet to produce three-grade steel bar, compared with the production of three-stage steel bar with alloying materials of niobium, vanadium and titanium, the cost is reduced by more than 80 yuan.
  • Production of British standard steel bars using 20MnSi blanks.

Characteristics of water-through cooling technology for bar and wire rod mill:

  1. The process of cooling circulating water is turbid circulating water, and the water treatment system can be shared, with low cost and low investment.
  2. High-pressure nozzle design and high-pressure cavity design for the bar and wire rod rolling mills. The mechanical cooling method ensures that the cooling water volume and cooling strength of each rolling line is consistent during the two-segment and three-segment rolling.
  3. The turbulent flow sleeve provided in the cooling water pipe forces the water flow in the pipe to flow in a turbulent state to enhance the heat exchange between the rolling stock and the cooling medium.
  4. The high water pressure and the upper water ensure that the bars are evenly cooled in the turbulent tubes. Not only the flatness of the medium and large-sized steel bars after cooling is good, but the straightness of the small-size steel bars after cutting and rolling meets the international requirements.
  5. The water-line and output roller are arranged on the hydraulically driven traverse frame, which makes the selection of the water-passing process flexible and quick to switch.
