Why Is the Oil Film Bearing of Finishing Mill Damaged?

In high-speed wire rod mill plant, the more commonly used production equipment is the high-wire finishing mill. As an important part of the equipment, the roll set must maintain good lubricity, otherwise, the normal operation of the equipment belonging to the rolling mill machine will be adversely affected, which will reduce the manufacturer’s production ability.

The important parts of high-line finishing mills, such as gearboxes and oil-film bearings, whose lubricating oil is systematically supplied. However, it is unknown whether the lack of experience and management or the problem of oil caused the oil film bearings of the high-line finishing mill idler group to be burned.

After analysis, it is precise that the entry of moisture and dust into the oil is the direct cause of the burnout of the oil film bearings of the high-speed finishing rolling mill rollers. When the high-speed finishing rolling mill is in the high-speed running state and the load is relatively large, the oil film bearings near water are in dynamic sealed state, so moisture, metal impurities, and dust can easily enter the oil, causing serious oil pollution.

Once water enters the oil film bearing of the finishing mill, certain additives will be hydrolyzed and fail, and turbulence may be formed, which will damage fluid lubrication under normal operation and cause abnormal wear and corrosion of equipment. In addition, moisture will react with iron filings falling into the lubricating oil, and the obtained products will accumulate in the oil passage of the finishing mill lubricating system and the screens of various filters, resulting in insufficient oil supply to each friction surface, reducing lubrication function and accelerating the wear of parts.

In order to avoid similar problems and ensure the normal and stable operation of the finishing mill, it is necessary to strictly check the quality of the lubricating oil before lubricating to avoid impurities entering and contaminating the oil. At the same time, the sealing protection measures of the finishing mill should be well done to prevent the drying of external adverse factors.
