Rolling Steel Production System

In the steel conglomerate, the combination of multiple sets of rolling mills that are related to each other for the production of specific steels and a certain scale of production is called the rolling steel production system. According to the type of rolled products, the rolling production system can be divided into section steel production system, steel pipe production system, steel plate production system, and the mixed production system composed of them. In addition, there is an alloy steel production system.

According to the scale of production, there is large-scale production system with the annual output of more than 1 million tons, medium-sized production system with the annual output of 100,000 to 1 million tons, and small-scale production system with the annual output of less than 100,000 tons.

In the rolling production, in addition to the above-mentioned several common production systems, some rolling mills (such as wheel hoop rolling mills) directly heated and rolled the steel ingots into finished products. Due to the unique production conditions of these mills, they are usually not intimately linked to other mills and they do not constitute the corresponding production system.

Recently, continuous casting technology in various countries around the world is developing rapidly. It can be continuously cast into the square, rectangular and shaped blanks of various specifications and directly supplied to steel plates and steel rolling mills. Moreover, various circular seamless tube blanks can be produced by continuous centrifugal casting. The seamless tube blank is directly used for the automatic rolling mill unit. In addition, the short-flow production process of the electric furnace (including refining outside the furnace), continuous casting and continuous rolling in the metallurgical production process are also increasingly widely used. The development of continuous casting billet and the application of short-flow production processes provide favorable conditions for simplifying the rolling steel production system and improving the rolling production process.
