The principle of the rolling mill is to divide the rolling piece into two or more rolling pieces in the longitudinal direction by mill roll or other methods during the rolling process, thereby reducing the elongation coefficient of the whole process to 1/2-1/4 of the original process, changing the single rolling into multiple rolling.
There are several methods for rolling mill rolling: roll cutting method, slitting method, disc cutting method, and so on.
The main advantages of slit rolling:
- Double-line or multi-line rolling is achieved, which greatly increases the output of small-scale rolling mills, which is especially important when producing small-size steel products.
- Producing the same size product from the same size of the billet, it is only necessary to roll 1/2 section, thus the number of rolling passes can be increased.
- Compared with ordinary rolling, the precision of the product can be increased by 5%-6%. The reason is that the two lines are bitten at the same time after the cutting, the cross-section changes little, and the temperature difference between the head and the tail is small. In addition, the split rolling is carried out only in the last three racks, the rest are micro tension and tensionless rolling.
- When the conditions are the same, the use of split rolling can reduce the heating temperature of the billet by about 40 °C, reduce the fuel by 20%, reduce the power consumption by 15%, and reduce the total production cost by 10-15%. This is an easy and effective measure to reduce production costs.
In the process of slitting rolling, the unidirectionality and anti-interference of the on-line detection laser can be realized. The laser caliper designed based on the principle is used for online measurement of the size of the rolled piece. The dimensions of the rolled stock in the horizontal/vertical and horizontal angles of 450 can be accurately measured continuously, and the results can be displayed and stored in the computer system. According to the displayed results, the operator can timely understand the dimensional accuracy of the rolling stock in the production process, and adjust the rolling mill in time when the specified accuracy is exceeded to reduce the waste and facilitate the adjustment operation.
