The wire rod is the product with the smallest profile in the hot rolling process. In order to increase the output, improving speed is the first factor of the wire rod production line in the initial development of the technology. With the improvement of the wire rod mill equipment and the automation control technology, the production speed of the wire rod is improved continuously. The output of the wire rod can meet the requirements of the producers. The market demand for the improvement of product quality is increasingly urgent, because the deformation heat of high-speed rolling causes the wire rod to heat up during the production process, the microstructure of wire rod is not controlled, and the performance is not satisfactory. The resulting temperature-controlled rolling technology allows the performance of wire rod products to be controlled according to the wishes of the producer.

Temperature-controlled rolling has the following advantages: reducing decarburization, controlling iron oxide scale, refining grain structure, improving cold deformation properties of steel, controlling tensile strength and microstructure, eliminating or simplifying subsequent heat treatment processes. Temperature-control rolling has the following two deformation systems:

(1) Two-stage temperature-control rolling process —- Austenite recrystallization type and non-recrystallization type.

(2) Three-stage temperature-controlled rolling process —- Austenite recrystallization type, non-recrystallization type, austenite and ferrite two-phase zone rolling.

If the two-stage deformation system is adopted, recrystallization rolling can be used in the roughing, intermediate and pre-finishing stages in the production, and the cooling control section is set in front of the finishing mill to control the finishing rolling inlet temperature so that the finishing rolling temperature is at 950 ° C to Ar3.

If the three-stage deformation system is adopted, re-crystallization rolling can be used in the roughing, intermediate and pre-finishing stages in production, and cooling control section is provided in front of the finishing mill to ensure that the finishing rolling temperature is controlled to be rolled in the non-recrystallization zone. The cooling control section is set in front of the sizing mill, so that the final rolling temperature is controlled in the austenite and ferrite two-phase zone, and sufficient reduction is applied to achieve three-stage rolling.
